Our recent Buxton Regional Conference brought together directors and team members for a day focused on innovation and growth. It was an opportunity to step back, challenge our thinking, and look ahead to what’s next for not only ourselves, but the wider team too.

The morning began with Ballarat Directors, Peter Burley and Mark Nunn, alongside Buxton CEO Marcus Williams, who shared Buxton’s “big rocks” - the priorities shaping our future and driving collective growth.

Right Now, and What’s Ahead: Market Insights from REA Group

We then welcomed Luke Dore from REA Group, who delivered a thought-provoking presentation on the six key forces shaping the real estate market today and into the future. From population growth and trade agreements to generational wealth transfer, sustainable building practices, and climate-related insurance risks, Luke unpacked the trends that are set to influence our industry for years to come.

In the breakout sessions, ideas and insights flowed freely.

Sales breakout: Jake Bridges from Leading Teams challenged us to think differently about energy balance, vulnerability, and focusing on what really matters. Reminding us that growth starts with the individual.

Property Management breakout: Michael Furlong shared the 7 Habits of Successful Property Managers, while Sophie Kennedy-Rush offered powerful lessons from her many years as a standout Business Development Manager.

A Powerful Close: Hugo Toovey Inspires Action and Awareness

The day closed on a moving note with Hugo Toovey - Army Major, founder of 25 STAY ALIVE, two-time cancer survivor, and mental health advocate. His message on early detection for both physical and mental health, looking out for your mates, and advocating for broader access to health screenings inspired us all to take action - not just in our professional lives, but personally too.

A heartfelt thank you to our speakers, and to everyone who contributed to the day.

Events like this remind us why connection matters: when we come together to share ideas, challenge perspectives, and support one another, we move forward stronger - as individuals, teams, and as a network.

We’re especially grateful to Jodie Burley, Mark Nunn, Peter Burley, and the team at Buxton Ballarat for hosting such a progressive and collaborative event. Your leadership and partnership made this day one to remember for our team.

By taking the time to learn, reflect, and share insights at events like this, our team strengthens not just ourselves, but the people we serve. Every idea explored and every skill sharpened equips us to provide better guidance, support, and outcomes for the communities we partner with every day.
