Raising the Bar: Empowering Agents in Auctioneering

This year’s Buxton Auctioneer Accreditation Program focused on equipping experienced agents in our regional offices to confidently lead auctions and deliver strong outcomes for the communities we serve.

By building on the craft of our team, we’re raising the bar for auction campaigns across the board. It’s about making sure every person, no matter where they are, has access to the same high level of expertise and energy that drives the best result.

We’re proud to share that 14 Buxton agents have now completed the program and are officially certified as auctioneers.

Buxton’s internal program is all about empowering our people to take full ownership of the auction campaign - from listing right through to auction day - without the need to bring in external auctioneers. This gives our exclusive clients a seamless, consistent experience backed by deep local knowledge and proven strategies tailored to each property.

This year’s program brought together participants from across the Buxton network, including Joel Williamson, Josh Gay, Anish Babbar, Briana Craig, and Cade Rieniets from Ballarat; Matt Poulter from Bendigo; Garry Middleton, Nick Allison, Alistair Nash, and Daryl Reader from Newtown; Richard Smith and Samantha Moffatt from Mornington Peninsula; Nancy Yang from Port Phillip; and Anthony Greco from Geelong.

Over the course of the program, participants attended workshops, practised role plays and received hands-on mentoring from respected industry auctioneer Mathew Cox.

They showed that auctioneering is about more than calling bids. It’s the art of reading a room, managing a crowd, and creating confidence in the sale of a home.

Alongside the strong focus on supporting our regional communities, we were thrilled to welcome three women into this year’s program, paving the way for greater female representation in auctioneering.

The final event, held at Elwood Bathers, brought the wider Buxton team together in support. A huge thank you to Mathew Cox and Sarah Thompson of Buxton Mentone for guiding the group, and to Auctioneer Accreditation alumni Tai Menahem, Rohan Cleary, and Dylan Taggert for sharing their insights and real-world experience with participants.

By developing auctioneering talent from within, we’re investing in our people and strengthening our ability to deliver confident, community-focused auction experiences across the Buxton network. Whether in metro Melbourne or regional Victoria, our clients can count on local auctioneers who truly know their market and are equipped to achieve the best possible result.
