The expertise of Hampton East’s leading Buxton agents and their personal renovation experience might just give the couple behind House 2 the edge in this season’s The Block.
Leah and Ash, the Queensland couple behind the transformation of 16 Charming Street, Hampton East, are paired with the suburb’s top agents, Buxton Hampton East.
“We’re the only Hampton East agency handling an auction of the homes,” Buxton Hampton East director and auctioneer Noel Susay said. “And we are confident our local expertise will make a difference.”
The agency commands between 50-60 per cent of sales in Hampton East, which is a Bayside suburb popular with families and other homebuyers.
Mr Susay is the area’s top-selling agent, and the Hampton East office is the longest established franchise in the prestigious Buxton Real Estate group, boasting a strong auction track record with a high clearance rate.
Buxton Brighton director and auctioneer, Halli Moore, is co-listing the Charming Street property.
“Leah and Ash have done a great job and renovated the home to a high standard,” Mr Susay said. “I am confident their house, with its innovative style and quality finishes, will do well, and we are looking forward to showing it to buyers when inspections open.”
Hampton East has grown in popularity with buyers because of its proximity to more expensive beachside suburbs such as Brighton, Hampton and Sandringham. The suburb has attracted buyers from neighbouring suburbs and inner-city areas because of the more affordable prices, family friendly amenities and access to beaches.
“The blocks are generally larger, and there are nice parks and good schools including the best private schools,” Mr Susay said. “Hampton East has the best of both worlds and has seen massive demand for family homes.”
Home prices, because of the lack of supply, have held up well in the suburb for sellers. “Renovated family homes are in high demand due to the cost of materials, the difficulty in getting tradespeople, and renovation costs have tripled,” Mr Susay said.
The five-bedroom, four-bathroom home at 16 Charming Street, showcases a striking curved design throughout the second-storey exterior and features a self-contained studio.
Leah and Ash have their own building company and are renovating their own home.
The blockbuster home renovation series, showing on Channel Nine, has seen several changes to the format for this season.
The five competing couples, dubbed Blockheads, had $250,000 to spend on their projects renovating the 1950s homes, and were given the entire budget up front.
