Buxton x Geelong Venom: Backing Local Talent, On and Off the Court

From local courts to national headlines, women’s basketball in Australia is on the rise.

The AusPlay 2025 report shows more than 450,000 women and girls are now playing basketball regularly – up 25% since 2022 – making it one of the fastest-growing team sports for females nationwide*.

As the game grows, so too does Geelong Venom.

For the second year running, Buxton is proud to back Geelong’s homegrown stars through supporting their development on the court and in the communities we call home.

Now known as Geelong Venom, the team’s name, inspired by Australia’s deadliest snakes, captures their instinctive, tactical, and fierce spirit. The final choice was made by the fans, making it a badge of pride for the Geelong community and an appealing pathway for the next generation of players.

For more than 160 years, Buxton has grown alongside Victoria. We’ve helped generations find their home, supported local sport and causes, and stayed connected to the people who make our neighbourhoods thrive.

Our local team members are your neighbours, living, working, and playing here too. From Geelong across to the Mornington Peninsula and everywhere in between, our property partners are with you every step of the way whether it’s buying, selling, or renting.

As women’s basketball continues to capture new fans and inspire the next generation, we’re proud to stand court-side, cheering on local talent and the future of the game.

Catch the action in person, or watch at 9Now, Disney+ or ESPN.
