We Love Local: Good Times Milk Bar

LOCAL BUSINESS

COVID-19 has had a large impact on the way we live our daily lives, and for the players in the hospo industry, they've had to make tough decisions around changing their business model to adapt to the restrictions.

While the normal hospitality business model has been taken off the menu, new innovations and offerings have come to light to try overcome the restriction roadblocks, with many businesses adapting their menus, products, operating hours, and delivery options to work within our new socially distanced lifestyle.

Businesses like Good Times Milk Bar, have been committed to keeping their locals caffeinated and well fed by having a motivated team who are determined to find new ways they can serve their locals. To get their insights, we caught up with GTMB Owner, Brent Scales, to find out how they have been navigating the restrictions, why they love being Bentleigh locals, and how the community can continue to support their business moving forward.

How long has Good Times Milk Bar (GTMB) been open?

A little over 2 years since March 2018.

What do you love most about being located in Bentleigh?

100%  our community – it’s amazing to have such a great bunch of regular customers. We have teamed up with a few local community clubs to encourage kids to be fit and active. It’s great to see the joy these kids have when they receive a game day award burger or meal pack.

COVID-19 and the restrictions put in place has had a big impact on local businesses. In what ways has it impacted GTMB?

The restrictions on dine-in service has resulted in the team coming up with new ideas in how we can keep serving our customers with fresh fruit and veg boxes, delivered wines and cocktails alongside our taco packs. We are really looking forward to having the courtyard open buzzing again when the restrictions are lifted.

Because of the current restrictions, many local businesses have had to modify the way they do business to stay open and keep connected with their customers. What changes have been made to GTMB to adapt to the current COVID-19 situation?

The team were absolutely incredible – the pace in which the new offerings were developed was admirable. Within 48 hours of the restrictions in place, the kitchen team had developed fresh and healthy grocery boxes, pantry staple items, take home kits, bottled cocktails and a sharp wine offering. The most recent addition has been in our house made pies and sausage rolls – George’s pork and fennel sausage roll is something else!

What can your customers and Bentleigh locals be doing to continue supporting GTMB during this time?

Keep ordering from our online platform, and stop by for takeaway or pickup orders. We really appreciate the ongoing support from the local community!
