Buxton Big Bash 2020
This year’s Australia Day saw Buxton Mentone hitting the rest for a six with Director, Mathew Cox adding his high-energy style to the Buxton Big Bash Cup. Played at the Kingston Hawks Cricket Club home-ground, Walter Galt Reserve, the big bash brings together local cricket lovers together to enjoy jumping castles, BBQs and feats of great athleticism…all for a good cause.
Now in its eighth year, the Bash has become a big community day out with proceeds distributed to a different charity each year. With bushfires still on the breeze, this year’s choice of the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal was easy - with $2000 raised over a day of good play and great entertainment. The day proved successful for Buxton’s Team Coxy too, as they rose to a narrow, but enthusiastically celebrated, victory.
For Kingston Hawks’ President Brett Sebire, the day is a win-win; raising the profile and spirit of the club while raising money for a good cause. Brett is quick to note that the day has become arguably the club’s biggest and best attended event of the year…and absolutely its loudest.
